In 1970 this V100 was being utilized on the Operation OVERTAKE Darkness escorts from Long Binh and Bien Hoa to the Newport Docks. On 15 January 1970, it was ambushed and indirectly struck by a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) B-40 round. The projectile struck the roadway under the vehicle resulting in damage and injuries to two of the crew members.
