High end cargo losses continue to plague the US Military. During the end of 1967 the thefts from resupply convoys hauling cargo from the Saigon Docks by members of Vietnamese organized crime, black marketer's and their confidants employed as contracted civilian truck drivers became staggering with thousands of dollars of high end post exchange goods being stolen every month. The 18th Military Police Brigade formulated a new plan of action to prevent future thefts. The plan was named Operation OVERTAKE. |
