1030 Hours, Quan Loi Convoy Ambushed The Quan Loi Convoy, escorted by members of C Company, was returning to Long Binh Post on Highway QL-13 nicknamed Thunder Road. It was ambushed with rocket propelled grenade, mortar, and small arms fire from a force of approximately 200 enemy hidden along both sides of the roadway. Two tanker trucks were immediately destroyed and several others disabled in the kill zone.

Members of the C Company escort team heroically defended the convoy until assisted by other escort units from the northbound convoy who supplied them with badly needed ammunition and cover fire. The 1st Logistics (LOG) Transport Officer recommended all the MP’s involved in the action be considered for awards for their valor.
