Photo G0689: The burned out hulk of 720th MP Battalion, C Company, 89th MP Group, 18th MP Brigade V100 Armored Commando Car C54 sits at the Battalion Motor Pool on Long Binh Post. It was destroyed during a North Vietnamese Army ambush of the 1st Infantry Division Quan Loi convoy escort on Highway QL-13 “Thunder Road” in Binh Long Province, III Corps Tactical Zone, South Vietnam on 28 April 1969. The vehicle was struck by a Rocket Propelled Grenade through the right rear wheel well (red arrow shows impact area) along with .51 caliber heavy machine gun fire. Courtesy of SGT Robert J.
