She attended the Military Working Dog Handler Course at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas en-route to the 178th Military Police Detachment, Fort Hood, Texas. There she served as a military working dog handler and team leader. SGT Tomson deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07. She was stationed at Abu Ghraib Prison and Victory Base Complex during her combat tour in Iraq. She is currently assigned as a squad leader and the Personnel Administration Center NCOIC in the 410th Military Police Company, Fort Hood, Texas. Since being assigned to Fort Hood, Sergeant Tomson attended the Warrior Leader Course (Class 1-06), the Commanders Total Fitness Course and the Combat Lifesaver Course.
Her awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (two oak leaf clusters), the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Nation Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, a Drivers Badge, and two Army Overseas Ribbons.
Sergeant Tomson has set many goals for herself to develop her military proficiency. She plans to attend drill sergeant school, be promoted to the rank of staff sergeant and win the III Corps NCO of the year board. Her long-term personal goals are to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and to become a command sergeant major in the United States Army.
